Understanding health coaching

Health coaching is a collaborative, client-centered process that supports you in making meaningful, lasting changes to your lifestyle and wellbeing. A coach works in partnership with you — not to prescribe or diagnose, but to help you identify your goals, your strengths, and the tools that will actually work for your life. Think of it as a dedicated thought partner and accountability ally for your health.

Health coaching is not therapy, counseling, or medical care. Your coach won't diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace your doctor, therapist, or other providers. We work alongside your existing care team to provide complementary support. If something comes up that falls outside the scope of coaching, we'll always refer you to the right professional.

Therapists work with past experience and mental health conditions. Nutritionists focus specifically on food and diet. Coaching is forward-looking and holistic — we look at your whole life and help you take action toward where you want to go. Many clients work with a therapist or nutritionist and a coach at the same time, because the approaches complement each other well.

Is it right for me?

Coaching tends to fit well if you're ready to make impactful changes to your lifestyle — even if you don't yet know what those changes should be. If you feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of health information out there, if you've tried to change before and struggled to stick with it, or if you simply want a supportive partner in figuring out what healthy looks like for you, coaching may be exactly right. Still unsure? Book a free consultation and we'll explore it together.

Not at all. Some clients arrive with a very clear goal; others just know they want something to feel different. Both are good starting points. Part of the work is getting clear on what you actually want, and for many people that turns out to be the most valuable part.

It varies widely, but common themes include building sustainable movement and eating habits, managing stress and burnout, improving sleep, navigating a major life transition, setting boundaries, strengthening relationships, finding more meaning and purpose, and addressing financial stress as it relates to overall wellbeing.

Working together

Sessions run 30–60 minutes and are held virtually. Each one is led by whatever is most alive for you — a challenge you're facing, a win worth marking, something that feels stuck, or mapping out next steps. There's no rigid script. Between sessions you'll have actions or reflections to sit with, and email support is available depending on your package.

Sessions are conducted virtually via video-conferencing.

Ideally, yes. As a health and wellness coach, I'm also looking at non-verbal cues to inform how I can best support your process.

Yes, with your permission. We believe in a team approach, and we're glad to coordinate with other members of your care team when it's helpful. Whatever your care team looks like, we want to support it.

Many clients notice a shift within the first few sessions, often just from having clarity and accountability. Deeper, lasting change typically unfolds over months, which is why we recommend a three-month commitment at minimum. Real transformation takes time, and we're here for it.

Scheduling and policies

Life happens, and we understand that. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a fee. This policy exists to respect both your time and ours, and to help keep your momentum going. If something urgent comes up, please reach out as soon as you can and we'll do our best to work with you.

A missed session without prior notice is counted as used within your package and charged at the full rate. That said, unexpected things happen — please get in touch and we can talk through your specific situation. Consistency is one of the biggest factors in your success, so we'll always encourage you to stay on track.
